NEW for 2012
Ferries and Buses to the Race Start!
Once again, everyone will be ferried over to the start line by our expanded fleet of houseboats. Due to major construction near our starting line, parking on the west side and even road access along Old Ferry Wharf Road has become uncertain, so we urge everyone to park at or near City Park, and enjoy a scenic boat ride over to the start line, without any extra charge. You will get in 15 minutes of some serious pre-race yakking and camaraderie, and the opportunity to feed off the energy on board; on arrival, you will all enjoy the beneficial warm up when plunging into the water!
Don’t feel like jumping off the boat into the water? This year we have added buses to keep you dry on your way to the start line. Bus space is limited to 100 swimmers, so be sure to register early. The buses leave at 6:45 & 7:15 (if needed).
We have doubled our capacity to transport swimmers and spectators! We now have several houseboats: Two supplied by Kelowna Dinner Cruises, the Princess II from Kelowna Princess Tours and the new Lake Lounge. You will need to pick a sailing time: the first boats will leave at 6:30AM, and the second sailing is around 7:15AM, as soon as the boats return. Be sure to get there early, as it takes time to load these vessels to capacity. There will be 290 tickets for swimmers for the first sailing. The second sailing will have the rest of the swimmers, to a maximum of 210. A total of 80 spectator tickets for the second sailing only will be sold on a first come, first served basis, at race package pickup on July 12th and 13th.

The spectators will enjoy a leisurely cruise back along side the swimmers, flanking the north side of the swim, being able to watch the race and their favourite swimmers for the entire crossing before being returned to City Park to partake in the finish line ceremonies by about 9:00AM.
Spectator houseboat ferry tickets are $5 (for the second sailing only) and can be purchased at Race Package pickup on a first come, first served basis. The swimmers’ tickets are specific to the sailing you requested, but not to any one boat.
