We really wanted to have a super blockbuster star like Justin or Celine record a theme song for us, but well, we couldn’t afford them, so instead we recruited (begged) a local band called ‘Rx’ to help us out and here it is..

Some of us have been in the lake every month of the year, and we think that the water (currently at about 11 degrees) is actually quite nice at the moment! If you’re keen to get a head start on your open water swim training, join us at Gyro Beach this Friday, May 4, at 5pm for a swim. Wetsuit strongly recommended

We’d like to thank Interior Savings for being the title Sponsor again this year.

With the success of last year’s swim, the ATLS Society has been able to reinvest all of our sponsorship funds (and more) back into supporting open water swimming. In particular, that means that we have allocated funds to the local swim clubs that provided volunteer help to our event. We are also starting a program at the Y that allows hundreds of disadvantaged young swimmers to develop open water swimming skills. We contribute to these clubs and initiatives as they help more people in our community become better open water swimmers. We see this as a win-win-win, for the ATLS, the swimmers participating in our Y program, the swim clubs, and the community.

For 2012, the ATLS Society has pledged to match any sponsorship funds and allocate double that amount to our Y program as well as any swim clubs that provide volunteers to the ATLS on race day!

Seems like we all have the winter blues and are anxious for summer to arrive. I’m sure everyone is deep into his or her training programs and have the season races entered on the calendar.

The Team at the Across the Lake Swim has been working hard over the winter to bring you another fabulous event this coming summer. We are still ironing out a few details and waiting for some information before we can open registration. Our goal is to open registration in March.

So check back early in March for exciting new details for the 2012 swim and to register for another great event.

As of this minute the meet is in danger of being cancelled due to lack of any timers for the Friday night session.
